Aim of the league

To provide an environment through which people can come to know the Lord through playing football which is competitive and played in a friendly spirit.

Mission

  1. To use football to spread the Good News through contact with people who wouldn't normally go into a Church
  2. To witness through actions and behaviour to non-Christians
  3. To develop friendships with non-Christians with the aim to share the Good News at the appropriate time

A Bridge

The South Manchester & Cheshire Christian Football League is a bridge provided for the use of the Churches who play within the League. It is a bridge for the unsaved to cross over and be saved. People who play in the League are now on the bridge and aware that there is something at the other end. It is the responsibility of all Christians in the League to help people to the other end, be they from their own team or another.

Concept

The SMCCFL is for church based teams wishing to play about once every 2 weeks.

Aims

  • To provide a vehicle for churches to start football outreach programmes into the community
  • To allow churches to expand existing football ministries
  • To act as a stepping stone for Christian Teams aiming to join a secular league

Format

  • A fixture list will be produced in August of each year. Teams will be given specific dates on which to play. This date is to be adhered to, unless by mutual agreement of the two clubs the game can be re-arranged. (Ideally within a 3-4 week period.)
  • All games to be played on a Saturday at 10.30am. Unless a more mutually convenient date & time is agreed by the team managers
  • Results will be recorded and a league table produced
  • The agreed rules and regulations of the SMCCFL will apply (rules may be amended, improved at the League AGM)
  • Teams will play each other once or twice, depending on the number of teams in the league.
  • An optional cup competition will normally take place.

Timing

  • Applications for membership of the League to be received in writing to the league Council and will be considered at the AGM
  • The season's fee for entry into the league to cover administration, a league trophy, winner's medals and a subsidy for an end of year league event is usually £20 per season.
  • The fee is payable to the League Treasurer before the season starts.

Agreement

Application to join the SMCCFL confirms acceptance, support and an agreement to actively strive to achieve the defined league aims
